Hi, could anyone tell me which motherboard is best for the AMD Athlon 1.4 ghz with 266 FSB (Thunderbird). I dont want any onboard graphics or sound. I would like as many PCI slots as possible (hopefully 6) ISA slots are not important. Also with 3 or 4 slots for memory and a max memory of 1.5 gb or higher. Thanks.

Jack

Best mobo I think would be the MSI K7T266 Pro and Master They are the stablist boards ive tested they run smoooooooothhhhhh no lockups.Rite now I got a EPoX board which is ok,I got it so I can overclock to 180fsb x 2 DDR = ) with my AMD 1.4.I also have a A7M266 and that runs ok.I say the 3 best boards rite now until I see the Abit KG7 and sis 735 boards are,MSI k7T266pro ,MSI K7Master ,EPoX 8K7A with or without raid.

That Abit is serious business. I know the GA-7DXR from Giga-byte has 5 PCI, AGP, and max 3 GB DDR in three slots, two ATA-100 and two IDE RAID.

with that memory requirment your are either not going DDR or you are waiting.

Don't forget the new Tyan Thunder, that board has 4 DDR slots.
