OK I know there is a motherboard forum but since I need the board to work with my 2500 mobile I figured I'd try here. Plus a couple of people on this forum have tried to help me get my system stable. I'm currently having trouble (I think) with my ASUS A7V600 mobo. That's a KT600 chipset board. I'm thinking about moving to another manufacturer and possibly an NForce chipset. I'd like to be 100% stable at say 200/11 with my 2500.

So, what would be your most compatible recommendation that is quality and rock, I repeat rock solid and stable?

Someone else has suggested the Epox Ep-8RDA3+

Thanks.

Only problem with the Abit is that it introduces another fan into the equation. I can't stand a loud system. Other than the extra fan that board seems like a great choice.

I had an A7N8X-e Deluxe and I was very happy with it. The only thing I can complain about was the max of 2.9v on the memory and 1.85v on the cpu. I never used above 1.7v though, so it realy wasnt a downside to me(200x12.5 @ 1.65v). Also, it was stable at 245fsb without a vmod. I hear the DFI lan party is also good.

Btw if you get the asus, I recomend against using the 1010 bios. It turns off manual control over the memory timings, which restricted me to 230fsb, as I have CH-5. I like the 1008 uber bios, but they may have had new revisions since then. I havnt used it for about a month now, as I have an athlon64.

you can replace that fan with a passive heatsink very easy. that was the first thing i did with mine ;)

Yeah I think Tom's picked the Lan Party just above the Epox if I remember correctly. I'm just having such horrible luck with my ASUS system at the moment that I'm not sure if I want another ASUS board.

Yeah I think I remember seeing a northbridge sink from Zalman for a couple of bucks. OK -- a non issue than.

*Thanks

That fan is very quiet. I'd say chances are excellent your power supply fan is much louder.

Ultra Infinity is also another good option, as its the Lanparty without the carrying case and so forth.

The shuttle an35n ultra is nice IMO. My bro got his fsb to 220 on his 2400+ mobile (on air) which I haven't seen on many other boards. If I put some AS5 on my cpu I might be able to get the fsb to 220 also. BTW my bro got it to 220*11, maybe its just the cpu, but I think the shuttle is nice quality. So far my rig has been rock solid, and they're cheap on newegg, maybe around 55 dollars or so (a lot of times they are sold out). The NB cooler on it is passive, so no noise there. Overall, its a good quality board.

The NF7-S 2.0 is my first choice OC board, I've seen 'em reach an FSB of 250. However, that's only if you're lucky and get you're hands on a particularly good copy. Mine (without the L12-mod) maxes out at about 225. DFI Lan Party is another great board.

I've been checking out the comments about the NF7-S over on the mobo forum. Seems like that board has a pretty good rep and has been around for awhile. The Abit AN7 also has many solid reviews on Newegg. Not sure what one gives me that the other doesn't. Again, I'd be happy if I could run at 200/11 and stay Prime stable for at least 24 hours. I'm not looking for a monster overclock but I've been having issues for the better part of a month with my current rig. Really sucks!

Thanks to everyone for their input.

The AN7 is like NF7-s rev3.0. It basically gives you the Abit Guru chip, which in most cases is considered useless, and also allows some really minor extra tweaks in the BIOS
but basically its the same board.

Well, for 57 dollars, the shuttle can't be beat. Nice oc'ing, stable too, with all the goodies and everything else. The A-bit certainly is good quality too, but the shuttle is at least the same quality but cheaper. It really boils down to preference though.

I can tell ya which one NOT to get..... The asus a7n8x

Yeah my first experience with ASUS is the board I'm having trouble with (A7V600). Nothing against ASUS -- I'm just wanting to try something else at this point.

me, too. I think yuriman is the only human being to ever get a decent fsb out of those boards, horrible overclockers.

you can get a DFI lanparty B, but beware it is full of problems (but there is a site, dfi-street.com where you can get help from DFI techs). I am not complaining much about mine tho. i love it.

Epox(8rda), Abit (nf7), and DFI infinity or lanparty I have all used for overclocking and IMO if you new to the whole overclocking thing I would go with the abit it's alittle easier to overclock with and alitte more stable @ it's max where as the DFI's really have to be played with for some time to get there full potential out of them but well worth it IMO.
