Should I use the oem fan that comes with the SP-94 heatsink and buy a fan controller? or should I get a fan that is more quiet?

Can I use a 80mm fan with this heatsink?

I want the best of both worlds....good cooling and low noise

Thanks for your help.

seeing the picture of the SP-94 at the TR website, id say a 80mm fan works aswell....
you could get a fan control ofcourse, but a new fan with lower DB ratings can helpt too, im not into fans a lot but i do know that the following brands are good: papst, panaflo and one more... i guess the person youd need is archilochus, hes kindoff our air specialist :D

you can try PM'ing him if he doesnt show up within a day or two ;)

edit: from your post i cant understand wether or not you tried the stock fan already.. if it isnt that loud (for you) then maybe you can just keep it :)

WOA (word of advice): you can try removing the insides of a dead 92mm fan, and use that as a shroud to remove the dead spot from the fan on the HS :)

offcourse you can turn down the tornado, but then you can also go for a good papst/panaflo fan...

I thought the fan that came with the SP-94 is a 92mm vantec tornado??

Code:
Stock Fan

Maker: DELTA
Model: FFB0912EHE
Size: 92 x 92 x 38 (mm)
Bearing: Dual Ball Bearing System
Voltage: 12V
Speed: 4800 rpm
Air Flow: 110.18 CFM
Noise Level: 55 dBA

from the thermalright website

So you go out and buy the Tornado fan and turn it back by half.:D
There abouts 60 CFM. Thats all you need with the SP-94 HS.The Panaflo has a hydro wave brg. setup. Its a sleeve type brg that has a ring type aperatis that floats the sleeve in oil.Thats one reason for the quieter operation. The Panaflo U1A is what I'm currently running on my SP-94 HS. Specs:3450rpm @ 68.80 CFM
43 dBA .See rig in sig,THE FANMAN:cool:

Will do.......thanks for all of your help

But I have one more question....... if I have a Antec truecontol 550 will this replace the need for a fan controller?....or should I purchase a fan controller too?

I would defenitly get a fan controller. You want to have control of your rigs fans.Just like a gas peddle in a car.If you wire them in the correct config. for your application, you will have better cooling results. THE FANMAN:cool:

Archilocus. Why is it that u know enough to cool your system very good, and you are only overclocking a 2.4c to 3.0 . With such temps at load at 3.0ghz u can prolly get like 3.5ghz with good temps.

You guys trip me out.:D We need to sticky this reply:I have limitations with my mobo to start with. The FSB only goes up to 233.I'm not a gready person, 3.0 is about what I wanted to OC to.If my mobo would let me, I would go higher just to see where MOBY gives in at.No reason to stay on the cutting edge.THE FANMAN:cool:

yeah, i am content with the speed i got, as long as it performs as well as the AMD 3200+ that would have cost like 300 bucks more than when i bought it....who can actually notice a 200 mhz speed gain anyways? as long as its fast...im fine with it

The only reason i would overclock is to have a faster speed than the original know-nothings. Im impressed at people who got a $500 prommie and got a 3.0c and are happy at 3.6ghz. Thats just stupid.

EDIT: spelling check, (really important to Larva)

It is generally more effective when you use the term know-nothings if you spell it correctly. This post and your other before it are useless. The old saying "if you can't say something positive say nothing at all" was invented for situations exactly like this.
