I wonder if any of you guys could assist me with this one. I'm running Win98, have DirectX 9.0, Plenty of RAM and way better system specs than necessary. Anyway, I will be playing and for no reason the game will just crash. It is about every 10 minutes or so and boom...total crash. I defragged, updated every driver I could and still it dies. Really...Really annoying. I patched it up to Version 1.2. Any ideas guys????

I own this game but can't even play it due to it being unsupported on WinXP, (I grabbed it out of one of those $10 bargain displays without looking at the specs.). I find it very odd that I was unable to find a patch to allow me to play it, either. For a game that got such good reviews and was apparently very popular, I'm surprised that the developer isn't supporting it.

Well the 10 dollar price tag got me as well...

Now if only you guys knew why it crashes  ....It is definetly not a heat issue...

Worked fine for me with WinXP.

After 10 minutes seems like a stability problem caused by heat buildup.

Weird. It won't run at all for me, installed fine but the program crashes immediately. I'm running XP Pro w/ SP1 and all updates.

Basically this game is just an unstable piece of crap =/, which is why it was 20 dollars after about the first 2 months of being released.

i have had black and white since it first came out.
I have been running it on XP PRO since i got it, it has never crashed for me. NOT once!

Great game, boring multi, boring after you master it.

Warez is not allowed

No crack, no need... it was only $10. I've updated to all versions and reinstalled the original to no effect. It crashes on the loader app.

Yup. That's about it in a nutshell. Replay factor was about <--> this much and I got bored with the osmotic nature of expansion and conquering by the 3rd map. It felt as if I wasn't in control of the game, just flinging rocks around wating for the villagers to breed.

As for the crashing, I have no clue.

Expansion! installed it and said omg this is so retarded.
As for the original game itself..its ok, but whats with those villagers and the STORE FLAGS! comeon i mean give me a break they always want something :p. Developers excuse..people always desire something..well hello ! its a game! i cant wait for bW 2 tho..it shouldbe good altho i waited 2 years for BW and when i got it it was nothing like what the videos they sent out were, in my opinion, false advertisment. *******s at lion head studios!

No way, I played through the game 3 times(though never beat the final mission! ARGH!), each time creating a better creature(the best part of the game, possibly).

I upgraded my computer on my third and final attempt at the game, but I could not get it to run! I had graphical artifacts on ALL the surfaces. Other games seemed to run fine. So I can admit there are some nasssty bugs hidden in the game, but can offer no help on how to fix them. However it always helps to try different driver versions for your graphics card...too bad DirectX isn't downgradable
