Hello. I've decided to get one of these boards for overclocking my celeron 566 (with use of a slotket, of course), but I was wondering: If I put a big heatsink/fan combo (like a FOP38) on the processor, will any of the DIMMS be blocked? If so, are there any boards of comparable tweakability and stability that won't have this problem?

Thanks for any info,

Zach Schoen

Tim,

I'm eventually going to get the BE6 II and run my P/// 600E/Alpha P3125 on it.

This hsf will block just the same one DIMM slot as well, right??

the FOP32/FOP38 will block 2 dimm slots...

=)

i'd go for the PEP66 'coz it only blocks one dimm slot.

With the BE6-II v2 and a s370 chip on an adapter, from the base of your HSF to the 1st memory slot you have about 2 1/4 inches. I had to modify one of my HSF's to clear the dimm slots as I was unwillig to give any up. I have 3 sticks of 128 MIrcon 133 that I am using.

Look at this thread for a pic if you are interested...

Just above the center screw in the picture, it was just about 1/16 of an inch off the first stick or ram. The HSF measures 2 3/4 at the tallest and 1 7/8 inches at the shortest. Just above the center screw is just slightly over 2 1/4 inches. Using this I was able to keep all dimm slots, and keep the temps at 40 or less at full load and room temp at idle using 2.0v.

my be6-2 lost a dimm slot to my pep66t. but it was worth it..............................
