this may seem like a stupid question, but oh well, the manual doesn't say anything about it. when i restart the comp, how to select what to boot from? the default is the hd (obviously), but how do i select if i want to boot from cd, or floppy? i don't want to have to go into the bios and change the default if i just need to do it once... on my old dell i had to press f12 for boot options, but it doesn't work here. my mobo is an aa8xe. hope some one can help me out here.

thanks

You change the boot order in the "Advance BIOS Features" menu of the BIOS. By default it should be 1) floppy, 2) harddrive, and 3) CD-ROM. If you want to boot from the floppy, then just insert a bootable floppy (you don't need to change anything). To boot from a CD, you will need to change the order in the BIOS.

that's what i've been doing. are you telling me there's no way to like press dlt or something while it posts so i could (not permanently, just this time) boot off something other thean the hd? even my old dell had that. i could permanently change the boot order in the bios, or while it was booting, i could press f12 and it would ask what i would want to boot off this time only. hope you kinda get what i'm trying to say

thanks

ah well, thanks anyways. surprising though that a dell offers this feature and abit's top-of-the-line mobo doesn't.
