Well after a complete reinstall of my entire hard drive (cos silly me put linux over windows the first time by mistake) I've gotten my dual boot system with windows 98 and redhat 7.2 working

This morning it was all fine and dandy and I had a quick look around linux.
This afternoon, after getting back from the barbers I boot up my machine to linux

As soon as i touch the mouse it warps to the bottom left of the screen. If i try and move it as soon as the direction changes by alot or i click it warps back, so i can get a maximum of halfway up the screen.
I havent been able to get hold of a window to see if dragging it will warp it down tehre too.

In widnows however the mouse still works fine.

Any ideas?
(consider i am a complete newbie and will need extensive step by tstep instructions if you are gonne be doing anything fancy off the command line :) )

what kind of mouse do you have? i recommend going to the manufacturer's website because you may need to find linux drivers...especially if it is a USB mouse. some mice can be installed from the redhat installation, or you may have just chosen a generic mouse to install. my guess is that you probably have a usb mouse and redhat doesn't like it too much. but post back with more details so we can help form a more appropriate answer :)

Sounds like the mouse protocol in XF86Config might be set to something it shouldn't be.

every once in a while my mouse will get crazy... On my CLI only box...

I just type /etc/rc.d/init.d/gpm restart

that will restart the mouse....

My mouse is a normal PS/2 Miscrosoft Wheelmouse which i set as an intellimouse in the redhat setup.

However when i started the machine up this morning (and forogt to catch it before grub had set linux going) it worked fine

so now worries now :)
