Did you change the cable/s that you are using?

Also how is everything setup? Is the HD PATA or SATA? If PATA does it have it's own IDE port or does it share one with the CD/DVD-ROM?

I think a few more things to rule out, but I'm still pushing for motherboard failure. Do you have another PSU to try in the system? I doubt that is the problem but before buying new parts it's best to try everything.

Ill try changing the cables, but at this point Im not holding my breath.

Its PATA, and it has its own IDE port.

Unfortunately I dont have another PSU to troubleshoot with.

Since theres a pretty good chance its the mobo Im looking at going ahead and ordering one. According to newegg, there arent exactly a wealth of choices. And since Im not familiar with any of these manufacturers, perhaps someone could give me some direction.

going by the shear number of user reviews I was leaning toward the first on the list, price difference it pretty negligible. If someone has any reason why I should choose differently, please speak up.

I have no experience with the first two and I hesitate on "recertified" boards but someone in this thread can probably voice their opinion better. You may want to place this in the motherboard forum for other opinions there.

I know Biostar is good and it has an Nvidia chipset, I have a Foxconn board (and use enterprise PowerPC based foxconn boards at work) and I'd say they are pretty good I'm just not so sure about that SIS chipset, as for ECS I have no experience with them and not heard much either good or bad about them but once again it's based on an SIS chipset, so not too sure if that is good.
