So, I sold off my new QX9770 for 500 bucks and decided to part out my old system and start a new build.

I bought:

I7-920 DO off Ebay $239-$35BCB = $204

Asus P6t TigerDirect $239-$30BCB= $209

Corsair CMX6GX3M3A1600C9
XMS3 6GB DDR3 SDRAM $147-$29BCB= $118

Antec Nine Hundred Steel
ATX Ultimate Gamer PC Case - $99

Total is - $630 delivered

So, about $130 out of pocket for this semi-new build.

Old Stuff:

OCZ 850w PSU
2- Sapphire HD4850 Cards that I will run in Crossfire
True Cooler, (ordered mounting bracket for I7- $10)

Thats about it!, I will post what I get it up to when all my stuff comes in and I build it up! Thanks!

Nice -- just built my own, and put in a Water cooler that has allowed the speeds you see in my Sig.

What are you using for HD?

Monitor?

Optical? Going with Bluray, dvd/cd burner? both/neither?

Your graphics crossfire is hella powerful, .. I like the setup, smart choice on the Intel Proc over AMD. AMD has the market on Gfx prices/performance.. but Intel has the CPU market right now. You just can't match an i5 or i7.

I want to see pictures of your build :)

Also if you intend on overclocking.. I HIGHLY recommend this cooler:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181010&Tpk=H50

Dropped my Stock temps 35-40 degree's Celsius.. Running 4.1Ghz from a 2.66Ghz Quadcore.. The I7's are essentially the same chips just with hyperthreading :) (Yes your is greater! I'm oversimplifying, but still.. just saying it is a beast!)

For gaming there is little difference at high resolution between processors.

That said, i7 and X58 :) very nice :)

Im excited!

Here the answers to your questions:

1. I have 2 400gb Seagate sata HD's
2. I have a 24" Dell monitor
3. I Have 2 LG opticals; 1 is a Cd/dvd-r, the 2nd is a BR/CD/Dvd-r

I will post pics of it when it is all set up for you guys.

Alright,

Finally got most of my new parts in so I can start playing with the 920!

Here is what CPU-Z shows right out of the box, zero overclocking. Just as a reference: (Is that Core Voltage kinda low? Or normal?)

I will post some ocing in a few!

Now that's a low Vcore! :D

And a low frequency as well.

Here it is bootable at 4.0 Ghz, about to start stressing it:

Idle Temps are:

Core1 : 38c
Core 2: 34c
Core 3: 38c
Core 4: 34c

I have the Core voltage in the bios set to 1.3v

Will see how the prime testing goes...

I ran Prime95 for 10 minutes on blend mode. No issues! I know its only 10 minutes but I will let it run overnight when I am dont tinkering with it.

My max temps during the test were as follows:

Core1: 72c
Core2: 68c
Core3: 70c
Core4: 66c

Any suggestions? Are those temps too high? I want to be able to run this comp at a moderately high speed, not at max oc. Thanks!

Im new to this I7 chip, not sure all the small settings yet.

Dropped voltage down some, still running good.

Alright, gonna wait for some suggestions. I tried to get 4.1, but it locked up at Windows splash screen with current settings. Still at 1.3 on the vcore.

Will also need some Memory settings advice
