hey guys,

ok i just ordered parts for my first amd64 box from newegg. i just wanted to know what you thought and if you had any tips for me:

MB nFORCE3-Ultra EP-9NDA3+ EPOX RT (Qty=1,Price=$119.50)
CPU AMD 64 |3200+ ATHLON 64 939P% (Qty=1,Price=$180.00)
HD 80GB|MAXTOR 6Y080M0 SATA % (Qty=1,Price=$66.45)
arctic-cooling Freezer 64 840556058274 1 28.95
Spire Fan 80x80x25mm 840556017905 2 3.95

I already have 1gb of value pc3200 to use on the box for now. i may upgrade later if it doesn't clock enought on the new board (max stable i've reached is 220 on my 2600xpm). this board/chip/drive are basically going into my main system that already has a bunch of crap in it. im sure you heard before but im a n00b to a64 oc's, so any help is appriciated.

also, is there a performance hit from running mem at 5:4 ratio and at a lower latency? im running it pretty loose right now:

CAS: 2.5
RAS to CAS: 3
RAS precharge: 3
TRas: 8
and I believe t1

:)

Well I think you should be able to hit 2.5 depending on the stepping you get.

artic freezer? the xp-90 is very nice and I would check if this fits your mobo.

did you order already?

Yeah... I would cancel that heatsinks order, call up the company and tell them you dont want the Heatsink , and get an xp 90 ;) or the new Zalman cnps7700, but check if it will fit on your mobo because that zalman is HUGE.
