Burning in basically means to run a component at 100% load for a period of time, it doesn't always help but many people have gained a few extra Mhz in overclocking or have been able to run a lower voltage with an existing overclock that was not previously possible.
Its all down to the component.

You could try looping 3DMark2001. People have said they have gotten better memory overclocks just from looping the Nature test.

Burning in components is the mostoverrated, overhyped load of bull. Its totally unneeded IMO.
