Hello!

I got a spare P3 450 cpu and wanna make a use of it. Is it actually worth looking for a slot 1 motherboard and pc133 memory for it and use it with that P3 450 or should I abandon that cpu?

I do have all other components like HD, video, etc.

Also I do need a new midtower case, what brand and where should I look for it?

Thanks a lot!

my system: Abit BE6-2, P3 700 @933 rock stable w/Alpha for slot 1 h/s, 384 pc133 -generic RAM, A-open GF 2 GTS, SB live! x-g, 20 & 8 gig Maxtor HDs on ATA100 cont., Acer cdrw.

if you feel comfortable modding a case id go with a generic case that would save you some money...i got a na name 3quarter tower for about $90 and i love it...4 fans built in...4 5 1/4 bays...6 3.5 yes 6...im so in love with this case, it even has a lock on the latch on the door...sorry rambling.

for the processor there is no sence in getting rid if it, id see if you could find a mobo for it ...i got a new p3 board that could handle upto a p3 550 for $20 up on ebay...there is a shop near me that is still selling the Asus P3V4X for $125, which is a nice board to OC with, unfortunitly there are 2 versions and i have the one with a max of 150fsb... $20-125 isnt bad and the 125 is high, the shop is over priced..I would go to pricewatch and see whats out there for prices. it depends on the amount of cash you want to spend and what you plan on doing to the chip and system...personally id spend the cash for a good board build up the system, oc the chip for now and later down the road upgrade it..hope this helped

the nice thing about getting a better MB is that you can allways put a better chip in later dont box yourself into something that wont support better and bigger things that is unless you can get a good deal then by all means go for it, i would never ditch a good chip i could always find a use for it not only that it would be fun to see what you could get out of the little fellow.
I uae a Antec atx with a 300w power supply and i think the price was not to bad also if you got something like this you can always upgrade and still use the case and power supply to house your new toys.
