Hi
I have question about the materials you can use for cable management

I have these things shown in image below that usually come wrapped on new cables. So I thought could these be used for wrapping cables in the case? Or do they cause interference being metal?

i could use cable ties but they arent as easy to work with

thx :)

Those are called Twist Ties. You can use them. Just be sure you don't tighten them too much so they cut into the wires. ;)

Yeah I would use zipties or velcro straps. I don't use wire-ties. I remember someone used wire ties and the wire tie end made contact with something and poof.

I use zip-ties if I want cables to sit tight, but I won't use them. I use Velcro when I have more cables (like modular ones) that I know I will use them one day or rearrange something.
I don't use wires because of what Nebulous said—they can cause a short if their ends touch something on the motherboard or other components. They also don't look good, and that's one of the reasons for cable management (airflow is not an issue in modern cases because of how cables go).

Agreed, but then I buy in bulk so no big deal cutting them. It's trying not to cut the wire(s) to cut off the zip-tie. :ROFLMAO:

Yep sorry if that wasn't clear, the things are cheap, but trying to get scissors or a blade in next to wires feels like I'm doing bomb disposal
Y'all need to add a cutter to your PC tool kit.

Yep, I'm using something similar, and I never have a problem (the link doesn't work for me, but I see the description :) )

I've used all of the above without issue and also keep side-cutters for cutting zip-ties.

Keep in mind, I would never use actual bread ties as the metal is wrapped in flimsy paper and can expose the metal tie much more easily. Basically, every case that I've reviewed comes with some zip ties, but they are usually the cheap thin ones that break on their own or are too short to tie the MoBo cable to anything. LOL

Preference order:

1. Velcro
2. Zip ties
3. plastic coated twist ties
4. Just mash the cables in there and close the side panel. Who cares. ;)

:salute:

Twist ties are just fine. I hate zip ties because once you get everything setup and working great, something fails or you want to change something around. Then you have to clip the zip ties and that's a pain in the ***.

I just route cables to be hidden as best I can and leave 'em.

You hit it on the head Don. Once I got everything setup and the wires/cables are routed to where I want them to be, then I'll use zipties as a finishing touch.

I am guilty of snipping a wire (or two) while cutting zip-ties/wire-ties off tho.

When I was an HVAC mechanic troubleshooting various machines I had to clip zip-ties around live wires. The voltages were 24v, 115v, 208v, 277v & 480v. Several of those could kill you if you clipped a live wire, so I learned how to carefully cut the zip-ties. :)

Watched, the aftermath, of a dude who got 480V and lived to tell the tale.. Not sure if you're a football fan, but do you remembert when Troy Aikmen got that major concussion and they showed him on TV... that look in his eyes where you could, clearly see the back of his skull through them.......... that was this dude.

Was doing a PM on an end of rack PDU and got zapped. went out through his boots and scarred the raised tile floor. It was crazy.
