I've been really lookin' around and as many DELL's as there are out there, it's really, REALLY, hard to find any info from someone overclocking one of these systems. Any info would be HIGHLY appreciated. Thanks.

any system on the market can be overclocked... the key is knowing how to do it. go to the overclockers.com home page and click on the beginer guides... it will have answeres to almost all of your questions. any specific questions that you have you can ask o the forum... just dont ask how to do it. (overclock) good luck and happy clocking

I doubt any OEM systems would be overclockable. All those OEM manufacturers (i.e Dell, Gateway, IBM, etc etc) eliminates those overclocking neccessities such as multiplier adjustment, voltage control, and FSB control to control the overall cost of the system.
The only way you can overclock your Dell system is by using the SoftFSB program. Just download it from H-Oda.com website and run it in any windows. The success of overclocking the OEM systems are very rare.
If I were you, I would just buy another Motherboard to replace that cheap OEM mobo crap in your Dell system. :):):):)

So, DAMNFAST, would you suggest I get a mobo based on the same Intel 820 chipset, or maybe move up to the new Intel 850 chipset? Will my Pentium III chip even work with the 850 chipset? Or do you recommend a completely different chipset, and which Mobo manufacturer would you recommend as being the best? Thanks very much for your help.

What 733processor are you currently running? Is it socket or a slot?
I personally would go for Intel 815eb chipset, but since I'm using AMD system currently, it would be better for you to go to Intel motherboard section in the forum and ask them.

Oops, very sorry, I forgot to mention in the last post that I currently have RDRAM. I don't think the 815 in compatible with RDRAM, is that right? The 850 chipset is the newest from intel that they are putting the Pentium 4, so I have a serious doubt as to whether the Pentium III will work in. To answer your question, my 733 has an r after it so according to DELL's documentation, that makes it an SECC2 chip, but I'm not sure if that's Socket or Slot, do you know? Thanks again for hangin' in with me on this? I appreciate the help.

i dont think you can clock a dell... my 1st computer was a dell (2years ago)400mhz p2 and you very limited choices in the bios. They dont let you change bus speed or anything like that so i come to the conclusion no..unless you can get a some sort of bio's that can replace the one dell gives you and you would have to flash it.. but i dont think thats a good thing... well that my opinion... :Þ
