my first use of the computer. To be more specific, I am building a new computer with the intention of overclocking it. I would like to go ahead and do the pencil trick prior to installing the CPU. I will be using the Z4 water cooling kit to cool the processor. I guess there are two ways to look at it...

1. Verify the CPU works BEFORE modding the chip.

2. Try and save yourself the trouble of removing the water block and hoses by doing the pencil trick first.

Chip: New AMD Duron 750
MB: New ASUS A7A266
Video:New Gainward GeForce 2 64Mb
Water Cooler: Z4

One last question... What kind of success do you think I will have of overclocking by using my existing 256Mb RAM PC100.

Thanks,

Joe

definitaly test the processor first, it is not too bad to remove the waterblock, u dont need to take any hoses off or anything.

it depends on what type of RAM it is that u have, but i wouldnt get my hopes up to high
