I have a Intel Pentium II motherboard that came with my brothers old P II 300 gateway. I don't really care about overclocking this chip, just getting it to work. Can i use a slotkey with a Celeron 300-450 in this motherboard and will it work? I heard at a computer shop it will, it just matters my bios. I fryed my PII thats why i need help. I tryed to get a PII off this guy and he wanted 150 dollars. He was really stupid. I tryed my brothers Celeron II 600 in there and it didn't work, but i just figured it was because of it was a Celeron II not just a Celeron.

you can use the chip in there, but forcing it to 100Mhz FSB may be another matter. Gateway OEM special boards tend to be very unfriendly when it comes to overclocking for all th eobvious reasons - think about it.
