I've searched around but couldn't find the answer. I have a really old computer that I use for things like a tor node and torrent box (only legal torrents if you have to ask). I would like to expand the storage on the box but it only has a USB 1.1 port on it. Can I buy an external HD that has either a 3.0 or 2.0 option and use it? I know the speed will obviously be reduced but I don't care about the access speed. I just need the storage space.

I know a lot of 3.0 drives are backwards compatible with 2.0 ports but they never/very rarely say anything about a 1.1 port.
