Hi guys

I need some help here. I want to buy my first ever ssd and I am excited (it is going to be a huge in performance I know) !

I have a question though.

I am not sure if I can maximize the full potential of a new ssd. As I can see most of the new ones they have speeds exceeding 500MB/s.

I have an old motherboard Asus M5A88-V EVO which uses AMD SB850 controller. It has support for sata 3 but still I am not sure how good it is. Some more info can be found here

Does someone have any experience at all?

Yes, you're absolutely limited by the south bridge.
I had it happen with an old 880 chipset board myself.

I'd just grab the same thing as most other systems, the 850 EVO.
It's a solid drive, won't break the bank, and will give your system a nice kick in the rear
