Well i got the abit se6 mobo and was just wondering,
it says it can take stuff from 500 to 1gig mhz
in the manual.
but that would just be with the lower fsb and multiplier right?
What i meanis if i have a 700 or 800 can i overclock it above 1000?
I think it is just that it only takes the rated one gigers from intel right?
Oh Well im just too tired.

I am not postive about the answer but since no one else has responded I can tell you that I agree with you. It will likely go with a chip set at the default settings up to 1 gig.

But if you use the user settings and set the FSB up you may go higher.

Abit says it can handle up to 1GHz chips. This means that the bios can autodetect and set the board up for those chips. What you do after that is up to you. Many folks on this forum are running over a GHz with MBs that won't even support the 1GHz chips.

I can attest that it can!!! I have an ABIT SE6 with a P3 - 800E(100mhz FSB chip), VK bios, and I am running at 1040 stable with only a PEP66. (FSB 130Mhz, 4:4:1 and 1.90 core voltage) I am installing a peltier with water cooling, and hope to run above 1100 stable. I can post 1120 but will not boot into windows (this is with air cooling only!!!!) It is possible to break the gig limit! 100% cpu load yields a 38 deg. C. reading and 24 deg. C. idle.
