(to some of you this might sound dumb) But I want to know if when one is making a dual processor computer, such as two(2) PIII 700s, must they be the same? Could I pair a PIII 700 to a PIII 800?
---I was just curious???---
They say that you MIGHT get that to work, but they are not goig to say that it is supported.
They say to pair up a set of matched stepping and speed cpu's.
Intel has some info on this buried in thier site..
I have an Abit VP6 and in the manual they recomend having CPU's with the same speed and stepping. I am running 2 PIII 700's SL45Y's week 31 (cB0 stepping). Running them @886 w/124 FSB. My Adaptec 2940/UW SCSI controller is from the LX days (66 Mhz bus) and won't run with any of my machines with the bus set to 133. I've read that OC'ing is more difficult with Dual Procs, so it's probably best to have the 2 CPU's matched as closely as possible for compatability.
