well, i woke up this morning to find that my main rig(in sig) was in a deep sleep. screen was black and she wouldnt wake up. so i just figured that it froze. restart. windows xp pro boots up and i get this popup while things are loading into the system tray.

[asus probe]
"cannont create shell notification icon"

so the computer sorta freezes. the only thing i can do is bring up the task manager to view processes and such, but after a bit the task manager freezes as well. restart.

just started working on this problem, have never seen it before so thought i would post to see if anyone had. in the meantime i will be taking the overclock off, attempting to enter safe mode and i will try to disable asus probe to see if that does the trick.

ive had the machine working on and off all day. i just end the asus probe process before it can cause any trouble. but the message shows up eventually and the computer keeps freezing up. ive removed the overclock, and even have it underclocked just a bi(its insanely hot in my room right now). guess its time for some spring cleaning. just gonna reformat and reinstall winxp, its about that time anyways.

i still dont know what the "cannot create shell notification icon" means. looked for a while and couldnt find any info, except some stuff in german and what looks to be portuguese. oh well.

Don't know if you can get that page out of there but basicaly it says that a program that would put an icon in the tray isn't working correctly. The program uses Delphi programing. Hope that helps.
