vcore: 1.65
vdimm: 2.8
vdd: 1.7

core temp: 38.0 idle, 42.0 when priming (according to abiteq)

bios: d10 4247 EDc18 cpc319

Hey guys,

I'm running the above setup stable but can't seem to push it past 2.5ghz. From what I've read about bh-6 chips, I know my vdimm is the cause of my un-overclockable fsb, but what confuses me is why I can't break 2.5 even with only 200fsb. Pushing the vcore to 1.7 won't post, leaving it at 1.65 and running at almost anything above 2.5 (with any fsb/multiplier) either doesn't post or gives me prime errors.

What do you guys think could be the problem...maybe a different bios?

P.S. I'm gonna see if Mushkin will let me return their ram...if they do then I'm definitely getting some ocz 3700EBs :attn:

Some folks have had luck droppign their VDimm all the way down and leaving the vdd at 1.7. But I'd say that you need to up your vcore higher and get better cooling. Also, upgrade your bios to at least 23.

I thought bh-5/6 were terrible at low vdimms? Which bios would you recommend? There are so many modded bioses..

Just do a little bit of research... there are a whole lot of different options..

I myself choose one based upon SATA stability and overall overclockability...

Works fairly well for me. I'm going to start pushing my fsb past 220 tonight.

just to tell ya, i stuck in some cheapo 85$ 512 stick of geil ram...

and i got it stable at 220 fsb... didnt want to fry the ram so i didnt push harder....

the chip went to 2.7 [email protected] 1.825, stable, still havent seen the ceiling yet,

now to see what will happen when my gig of pc 3500 ocz eb platinum comes :)

Update! :)

Running prime95 on 200x13.0 now (I had to up the vcore up to 1.8 to get it to post), 47C on full load...might have to get better cooling if I want to push it further. Tried dropping vdimm to no avail, though...will be returning the ram to mushkin and getting some 3500EBs  Hopefully they'll let me get 230+ at 2.8v

Also flashed to d24 4247 ed cpc319 for good measure, per froz's advice.

If I'm still priming by the end of the day I think i'll push for 2.7ghz ;)
