My friend has a old pen.2 that won't shut down. It will go into stand by or restart. When you go to shut down it just restarts. I have run Nortons Works on the system, and checked everything I know. os is win98. Thank you Mull

Hi and welcome to the forums:D

We have the forum split up into sections to make finding a solution easier - you will get more responses in 'General Hardware' or 'Operating Systems' to this problem.

I'm sure one of the Moderators will move this thread for you soon.

WELCOME TO THE FORUMS, MULL...

Have you gone to the Windows Update page and done all your updates?? There should be several updates there dealing with shutdown problems in Win 98...
You should also check and make sure you have all the latest drivers for you system and if all else fails, you can reload Win98 and see if that doesn't solve your problem...Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes...
Another possibility is to go to:
Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information>Tools>
System Config. Utility>Advanced>and Disable Fast Shutdown...
It may help and it may not...

Don't Give Up The Ship...

:D

I agree w/ Dago....my x-girl had Win98se on an old p-166.....same problem, went to Windows update & fixed the shutdown issue.
;)

Sorry if this was the wrong forum. This computer is unable to go
on line. I will rig this computer for on line and take it to my place
and get all the updates. Thank you folks for your help.
