I need a card thats under $60 and uses the least power. I know the 5200 is considered crap, but this is an email machine. Its going to be a shuttle minibox with an athlon64, NF3 and 2gb of ram. But I need a card that wont sap its wimpy 240w psu. Since the 5200 is .13 micron I thought it used very little power.

Err, its not me. My mother is a perfectionist, and she screams at my because I have a better machine than her. It will also run word and perhaps dreamweaver for her website building. Anyway, nothing 3d. Think the 64bit ram version uses less power? Or should I go ahead and get the 128?

I suppose I'll splurge and get a 9600. The full 9600 is only $5 more than the SE anyway, and it has DVI. The total comes to $1750. Thats everything but the desk. Im giving up my christmas for my mother. Good upgrade from a 233mhz i'd say.

why dont you just buy her a real psu? 240w is just asking for problems, a cpu of that caliber needs 350w minimum! and some people buy cpus overkill for the tasks at hand. that said, she should get a matrox g400 for its best 2d

I had a G400 for a while, but I gave it to my grandparents. I wasnt that impressed. Also, shuttle cases use micro psu's, they are onky about 1/3 the size of a normal one.

just get a cheap duron system and tell her the duron is the next step up from the athlon xp. She wouldnt know the difference. 9600s use less power then anycard i know, if you get a 9600, replace your 9500 non pro with it.
