I realize that this new set of catalyst drivers require CCC install, but I'm wondering if anyone has tried to install just the display/ WDM drivers without the Control Center bundle? I was looking through ATI's xp support pages and it looks like you can select just those 2 sets without installing CCC (which I thoroughly hate). I'm trying to decide if it's worthwhile to attempt this as I just ordered a new x850pro that I'm going to [hopefully] be able to flash mod. I found the separate installs at Can't link directly unfortunately -> Windows XP Drivers and Software -> RADEON -> Catalyst 5.13 Windows XP - Driver Download -> (Under Low Speed set)

I also hate CC so I did the following-

1. Installed the last drivers that came with CP (5.11 for x64), then uninstalled the display drivers only! (left the CP alone)

2. Dowloaded the 5.13 that came with CC as well, started the installer, clicked on custom install, and checked only display driver (so I unchecked control center)

Now I have those 5.13 without the CC, but it's a bit strange, when I open the CP, I don't have the options I had with the 5.11. So I can't change AA or AF in the CP, only in the game itself... It sucks because I play some games where I have to force AA and AF via the CP, so if I keep it like this I'd have to play without them..

Have you tried using ATI Tray tools with that config? I'm curious as to whether you lose full AF/AA functionality with such a setup. I know that I can configure those settings with that program (Cat 5.12) without going into CCC using ATI Tray, but I'm wondering if that option is lost with the new cats.

I will try right away.
