Application Install: install package failure!
Application Install: install package failure!

I'm starting to think it might be a hardware problem or incompatibility. This is my first experience with a higher end ATI card and might be my last.

After I installed windows, I installed all the MB drivers and then downloaded the latest driver from amd website. I tried 12.6, 12.4, the CD that came with the GPU, downloaded the latest driver from HIS website and none of them worked. I tried updating windows first. It all gave me the same error. I tried uninstalling and deleting everything from registry. Tried re I tried pulling each stick of ram to make sure it wasn't the ram. Tried uninstalling Microsoft Visual C++ first. Same result!!!!:mad::mad:

The last thing i tried was reinstalling windows and tried installing the video card driver before installing the MB drivers. Same thing. Any idea what's wrong? Suggestions on what else I can try? Could it be hardware issue? MB or GPU? I'm thinking about sticking in my 560ti from my own computer in there to see if it works.

Looks like you possibly have a corrupted download.

I don't think so because I've tried downloading and redownloading different versions from ati website. They all gave me same error. I tried the CD that came with the video card and get the same message. I also tried downloading 2 different versions from HISdigital.com. Also, downloading from different computer.

Do you think its possible i'm looking at a hardware problem?

Hey guys i just had the chance to test out the video card some more. I put the HD 7850 into my q6600 system and it works fine. Catalyst Suite installed without a hitch and i played D3 for an hour with no problems.
I also put in my gtx 560 ti system and the drivers installed without any problems. I'm trying to test it out right now. I don't have any games installed on it yet so i just downloaded 3dmark11 and running a test at the moment.
Would it be possible that the hd 7850 is just not compatible with the asrock motherboard? Any more ideas on how I can narrow down to my problem?

Try to download full Framework 4.0 package from MS site and check if it's helping. Also be sure that you downloaded all patches from windows update.

You have errors in:
AMD Drag and Drop Transcoding
AMD Media Foundation Transcoders

Not like you will really need these packages. These are quite normal errors when your system is missing some components, patches etc.
Btw. without these packages you can still play games without any issues. What you really need is driver and maybe CCC if you want to switch some options. There is really nothing to worry about.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 in W7 sp1 is fudge try uninstalling C++ 2010 and installing AMD drivers again it will install a different ver. of C++ 2010- hope it helps

I'm starting to think its something with the ASRock motherboard. The new ATI card on my old q6600 runs the test fine and plays d3 fine and also does the windows performance index without any problems.
On the new build, with the gtx 560ti, even though it seems the driver installed properly, it doesn't seem to be able to complete any of the tests. When I try to do the Windows Experience Index, it says "The Windows Experience Index for your system could not be completed. Cannot complete the requested assessment. This system does not have the necessary multi-media support to run the requested assessment."
When I tried to run the 3dmark benchmark and it keeps showing that my results have problems with the Virtu MVP Hyperformance. At first it said to update it, i updated it, then it says that i need to disable it. After i disabled it and ran the test again it still says I need to disable it. I'm about to try uninstalling the Virtu MVP thing and try to run the test again.
I will probably swap the ATI card back over and try to mess with the microsoft c++ stuff one more time and if it doesn't work i'm suspecting the Motherboard and exchange it.

Ok, I actually uninstalled the virtu MVP thing and looks like 3dmark test completed fine but still unable to run the windows performance index test. I will try installing Diablo 3 and see if it plays.

Are you disabling MVP in software or in BIOS. First thought about AMD driver issue was IIRC some people needed dance instructions on Z68 to get cards working properly.

Install IGP drivers.
Disable IGP in bios install discrete card
Install Card drivers
Reenable IGP in BIOS
Restart enable hybrid mode in software.

I just tried disabling IGP in bios and then installing catalyst suite and got the same error message.

I will try this next. So these two packages are not needed for the card to operate properly? The error message pops up and makes it look very important like my installation is incomplete and will not work or something. If these 2 packages are not even needed I'm not going to waste that much more time on this issue. Was going to exchange the motherboard thinking that's where the problem is.

Thanks for all the advice and responses!

Did you try removing Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable form add\remove programs in the control panel then re-install the amd drivers there's a version of Visual C++ 2010 that wont let AMD ccc install right

In just tried it and it did not work. Uninstalled 4 or 5 different versions of the microsoft visual c++ before installing the catalyst suite and got the same exact error.

Can you take a screen shot of the error i think i might be miss under standing you when you are saying that Catalyst Software Suite is not installing iam thinking Catalyst Control Center\CCC - Is the video card drivers still working even if you get the error?
