maybe try to flash it to the latest firmware release, does Windows recognise the drive correctly? and are you trying to read the cd's you copied or does it do this for all cd's?

man i dont know what to do, it wont read any kind of cd, how do i flash the frimware? what else can i do to make it work? in devise manager it says it works fine.

I can tell you, the problem is not your new TDK cd-rewriter. I have the same problem with my pioneer dvd-rom and yamaha cd-rewriter on my kr7a. Try just plug the TDK cd-rewriter on primary master and don't plug in the cd-rom in your pc at all. you might be able to get the tdk to work, if not, try uninstalling via 4-in-driver if your mobo use it. Also try disabling the disc detector that creative sb use, it can be found in the control panel.

Could also be a bad cdrw. I had an acer 24/10/40x burner that half worked. It had trouble reading cds and I got errors trying to install windows.

sorry, I wasn't think right. I use raid controller for my hard drive. In your case use secondary master for your TDK. I have to go to work right now. someone please help him with this.

damn I thought it was just me with this problem! Glad to know Im not the only one ...JK
Well I have a TDK 24x10x40 and at first it didnt read any CD then it wouldnt open up. So I flashed it : Note the flash I used doesnt work in XP.
I contacted TDK they said they dont support Roxio Easy CD whatever, So they told me to send it in. Im kind of reluctant because then a few days after my DVD drive went out. i dont know what the problem could be I tried to put it in as master and slave and tried it on both channels. I hope its not dead cuz its a great drive.
Let me know how it turns out!
