Alright well few nights ago I was going to install my C++ compiler again. I popped in the cd and the cd would run, I open up my computer and it says the cd is a music cd. I put the cd in my other comp and it works fine. I brush it off though because im formatting my comp anyways. I format my comp today, it reads the windows cd fine. I decide to install Half-life and it just shows it as a music cd and Winamp trys to open it. Whats wrong with it?

Could be a dirty lens, or more likely your CDRW drive is dying. My old Benq 56x did the same thing, it would read every cd and think it was a data cd no matter what.

hmm yea that reminds me when I would try to burn cd's it would cd power calibration error. Thats been going on for a while now when it did work flawless a month or so ago.

My Computer does something similar, it will not "update" after I put a cd in, like say I put in a cd named "mp3's" and then put a cd named "lots of stuff" in it, it still says the mp3 cd is in. I think my problem is windows related and not drive related, because it happens with all my drives. But it doesnt happen to often and a log off fixes my prob.(Though Im not bothered by it cause my cd's still open with the correct program)
