I need some help please. I have got my cd rom to play mp3 and wav with cd player. I can't get my burner a plextor 16x
to work. I can eject a disk but not mount it.
i must be missing something any help a newbe. Error says [ could not determine the filesystem type and none spicified ]

You may also want to check to make sure that you're install supports the filesystem you're using. Check to make sure that you have enabled various filesystems such as ISO9660, Joliet, and UFS (packet writing) enabled.

You may have to mount it as a scsi cdrom (I think the syntax it /dev/sda)

I'm not sure if it's still the case but when I got into linux ALL cd writers were setup using scsi emulation, I really don't know why but I think that's what might be happening.

You cannot mount a Audio CD - it does not use a filesystem. To use a music CD just use a CD player like noatun, xmms etc. You do not need to mount it first.

Oh yeah one other thing about mandrake is the security setting you may have set... if you change it to "high" or "standard" you may be able to mount data CDs without to much mucking around... you can run "drakconf" or the mandrake control center on your desktop, and select the security option
