I'm thinking about getting a daul Intel board. I was going to put x2 Celeron 1G's in it.

My Question is , are all Celerons capable of running in a Daul Board?

I normally use AMD, and was not sure if you have to get a certian type of celeron, like the AMD MP's.

PPGA Cellys can do dual action but they top out at 533MHz (also, there is a coppermine Celly @ 533 (called 533A) but it is not SMP enabled).

no, only PIII can go in duals.

Not true. Celerons up to 500MHz can run SMP, but not the Celerons after that aka Celeron II's. If you want to build a cheap dual system build a dual Morgan, that is next up on my list :)

I think the tualatin celerons can be used in smp, but it is a hit and miss with them. They aren't smp enabled, but they aren't disabled either.

Heres a link

Got to agree with Johan. When I set up my dual Cellie board, 533 was the max that would work(PPGA)

I was poking around the intel forum, and found out that i2fast4u has a dual tualatin celeron system running.

Thanks for all your help guys

it was an ASUS P3C-D and he used modified Powerleap adapters....

Yeah, but he was avoiding giving any details on how he suppesdly got these two Cels running together.

To put it a bit more bluntly: I think he's lying.

hmm.. i have personally corresponded with him regarding this matter and he was forthcoming with some of the infos.. he seems a reasonable enough guy if thats any indication..
i suppose if he was the first to get it up and running he may want to sort out the few problems that he had so that he gets the deserved kudos..
the jury is still out though and i must admit that i am also skeptical
..Q

Well, I must admit that my (very) blunt accusation was aiming at getting some sort of reply out of the fellow. But if he's not talking, he's not talking.

Sorry for the bad style (all's fair in Love and Overclocking :)?)

You might be right with this:

but I'm very sceptical myself. If only because the Tualarons are out since half a year or so and I would have bet that by now some crazy Japanese would have found a way to get them up and running in pairs.

BTW, I'd like to put together some links to sites (and messages) where people have actually tried to get two Tualarons working. Would be interesting to see what has been done already.

Ah well. If the spoilsports at Intel would have left at least the 256k P3 0.13 uncrippled...

I'm sorry you asked me too late, I had not had the time to document anything, I had just got everything working when the peltiers failed and I lost a bunch of money. I will be attempting to rebuild soon. As soon as I can get the money together, I will be back to figuring it all out. You will be the first to know when I do it. I wish I had documented the rig. I had not realized that nobody had done this before with such success. I dont really know how long it will take, I'm really in some money problems lately, and hoping my bankrupcy will put me in the clear so I can get back to what I love... Modifying stuff. Its not that I did not want to talk, I just had no time, I am a college student, Union Steward, and work full time, so I have very little time.

Sorry to hear about the problem with the pelts and the money trouble (been there as a student myself...). If you get that kind of system up again be sure to take a pic of every step, would be a "headline" mod :).
