Sadly, just after receiving my new 1.4GHZ Thunderbird, my motherboard died on me (Well, it didn't actually die, I damaged a trace directly beneath the socket lug while installing the heatsink). It was an MSI K7T-Turbo-R. I had 2 40GB hard drives in RAID-0, and now that I no longer have a working motherboard, I am in need of a replacement. My main question is this: Can I use my existing hard drive array on another motherboard, if the motherboard uses a different RAID controller (was strongly considering a KK266-R), or do I have to disassemble the array using the same chipset it was created with, in which case, I would probably get another K7T-Turbo-R/Limited. Does setting up hard drives to run in RAID-0 change anything physical in the drive, or are they usable after being formatted/partitioned with another kind of controller. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

The array was also paritioned into 4, 20GB drives if that will make a difference.

you'll be able to use the drives on a different motherboard..... whether or not you'll have to reformat them and lose your data is the question. I am guessing, since RAID is so non-standard by nature, that you'll have to wipe the drives clean and start over. Anyone else know anything on this?

you could use either drive in a non raid setup.it may detect the raid setup and run fine if it the block size matches the options on the new board.i dont know of anyone whos tried that but it seems like it would work.
