Before I built my computer, I started looking into making a quiet computer. I cut the fan grills off my case, and looked at buying some fan gaskets. It makes sence, less vibration. After looking at the gaskets on the market, I came up with a cheaper way to do it.

Buy a bike innertube! if you cut it, you have about 1/16 of an inch of gasket! (there is usually a powder inside, I do not know if it is conductive or not, so clean that off). You can cut an x shape in the rubber, and hand start your screws, adjust them to fit as you tighten them.

I have 3 80mm case fans running, and the m/b and video card add 4 more fans (including the cpu) and my computer is noticably quieter than my friends, who only has one case fan!

I will try to get picts

I will try to get picts, may not be able too. Use the rubber as if it was a 2"x1/2" washer, and position it so it does not block the fan.

I really need to borrow a camera to take picts, I have a fan zip tied between a cork from a wine bottle and the top drive area!! Makes a nice intake fan blowing on the CPU! Heck, being a redneck, there will be duct tape on this computer before I know it!

Just use gromets, they sell them in a like a hundred different sizes for dirth cheap, and they are very long lasting (duh, meant for construction).
