Our admin is harsh. If you even joke about doing stuff to the network or computers, he'll get 20 eyes on you 24/7 and if you DO do anything, he'll get the principal to suspend you no questions asked. Also, he has some software like VNC installed on his computer so that he can see at any time what anybody on any computer is doing, and find out who they are. Ouch.
Just this morning durring Computer Systems & Support, we took all the network info off the teacher's computer and logged in on a fresh install of Win98 and had total access to the whole network. And you want to know what's really sad? The general user login AFAIK has ALMOST as much power as admin if you don't have all the protection software installed (like on our clean install). And they give you the password and login all the time. Really sad...
Though for the computers that DO have the protection software installed (Foolproof), it's pretty dang hard to get around it. IE will let you access the drives, though the sofware itself won't allow access to certian programs. And it's ran as a service so you can't just CTRL+ALT+DEL it away. Also, it has a DOS driver loaded so you can't get in that way. Though If you boot up into Safe Mode DOS and modify config.sys, autoexec.bat, system.ini, and win.ini, you MIGHT be able to disable it. Though even then it probably loads through the registry too (which you can't edit of course )
Nice security. Provided you're trying to hack in from one of the school's own computers
