What's the best way to get AS off the cpu? I managed to get most of it off the core with Q-tips and rubbing alcohol, but there's still residue on the ceramic package itself. (bought it used, but he didn't OC it at all) I don't want to break any of the resistors etc...

Thanks,
Ryan

Try a 1/4" artist paint brush and alcohol. I cleaned a refurb 2400 that had AS completely covering the back of the processor.

Ok cool, I might try that... Does it really matter though if there's some residue there (ie not on the core?) I'm just gonna put more AS5 on it when the board comes tomorrow.

I clean my processors using dishwashing liquid and water, don't worry, I have done this many many times and there are no problems with it, I also use a soft toothbrush to brush everything off. Then I'll dry it with a soft cloth. Once dry I use 99% alcohol with q-tips to clean the core itself. Works perfectly everytime.

Yup. don't use rubbing which is only 70% alcahol. I can get 91% in CVS adn I use 91% myself and it instantly disolves all the AS3. With 70% you need rub hard and it is like trying to remove gum. Unfortuantly I have no clue where to find %99/anhydrous, adn i don't know if that is legal to have without a permit or something (it is power stuff, can disolve your hands).

If it will disove your hands what do you think it will do to your CPU's PCB?
