Cleaning The CPU

Could I use Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol to clean the artic silver off my cpu. It is isopropyl Alcohol 70%

That will work, but there are more effective solvents available, like Acetone, Methyl-Ethyl-Ketone, TFE Degreasers, even good old Gumout Carburetor Cleaner.

Just be sure to wipe it down with the alcohol after cleaning with the stuff that Hoot mentioned.

If you do use the Isopropyl alcohol, use the 91% solution.

I cleaned my CPU several times and I always used Isopropyl alcohol 91% solution. I would stay away from 70% because is less of pure alcohol (more water most likely). Or try one of the Hoot's recommendations.

I preffer 100% acetone. It even takes out the superglue on the pits of the XP chip.

Kleenex and a Eraser thats what I use. Just rub it with the eraser and it will come right off. You will never know the AS2 was there.

If you think I'm making this up just try it, you will see how easy it comes off the CPU.
