My presario has a AMD K6-2 500mHz CPU is it possible to overclock this machine?

the k6 are hard to overclock, and if you make it the difference in performance will not be really noticeable. try it through the bios first and if you can't make it then use softFSB (by H-Oda cool proggy). however, buying a new pc would be the best solution as newer processors can be easily overclocked. if you have the money that is... :)

the Compaq Presario does not have BIOS tweeking capabilities, most are jumpers. If it is new enough, then you can jumper it up a bit, I think 500 is probably the motherboard's frequency limitation. If you have one of the mini tower, please note that the power supply fan is the same fan used for cooling the cpu which is so so. If you have jumper capabilities, you may want to lose the fan duct and put in an actual cpu HSF.

Know the exact Presario would help you locate the MB on Compaq's website.

yes , I had a presario 5204 mini tower and stock it was 350 mhz which would do 450 , but I didnt use any special cooling just the stock and I left it at 400 , but it has to be done with the jumpers their is no other way to do it
