Currently using the rig listed below. In the process of upgrading my 800eb to a p3 1ghz or a 1.1.

Now my question is if i wanted to get a 1.1ghz with a fsb of 100 mhz is it possible to fit that into my socket370 and run it at 100mhz? Right now everything is running at a 133 mhz stock bus. This is holding me back on overclocking. If i install a 1.1E will i start off with a fsb of 100 or 133?

Also, my MB states that the max mhz it can handle is 1.17. Will a bios update increase the max Mhz?

Anyone have any experience with this MB?

Thanx in advance...

you should have no probs running an 1100E in your mobo. I ran one of those chips for about a month and a half but I got rid of it b/c my mobo had no 1/4 divisor before 133 FSB. I only know of one person that hit 133FSB with an 1100E and most of us were stuck in the mid 1300's. Mine ran@1309 with default voltage

you would probably be better off with a 1000E but the performance increase with either chip wont be very much over your 900 b/c of the lower FSB.

For a few $$$ more you can get Tualatin cele and a mobo. They overclock like mad

Thanx for the replu deez,

I figured the performance gain wouldnt be that significant from a 900 to 1000+. My funds are somewhat limited so a mobo proc combo might be out of the question.

What would be the price diff between a new amp setup (proc & MB 1800+) and a p3 T combo. Also, how much of a spd increase would there be between the above mentioned combos. Ive never used an AMD setup but have heard nothing but good things.

Thanx

the XP 1800+ will probly be about $130-150 but I'm not positive and mobo prices for AMD are pretty much the same cost as Intel mobos. Performance will be a bit better with the XP

But..You will definitely need a 350W PSU minimum for an XP and DDR RAM helps a lot too for better performance and a big fat copper HSF for either XP or cele.

a cele T will cost about $70-80 and the mobo will be about $80-100. everything else in your current setup will work just fine: PSU, RAM etc...
