Hi all,

It has been many years since i ventured into a forum like this. Several years ago I picked up the parts for a new build, but only recently had the time to put it together. Needless to say I ran into several problems. The part that hurt is through my own clumsiness, I killed the MB. Several parts are EOL, including the MB and I am trying to just get something running with little to no budget and hoping to at least use the memory that I already have.

The MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK and AMD Ryzen 7 5700G fit in my budget. The problem is that my memory F4-3200C14D-32GFX, is not on the supported memory list, while this is F4-3200C14Q-32GFX . The only difference I can see is mine is 2x16 and the supported is 4x8. I have had a lot of bad luck lately and am not very tempted to push my luck. So my question is would I be OK going with this for now or am I just digging myself a deeper hole?

This box will eventually be turned into a server, later rather than sooner.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Your memory should be even better. I assume you have it, so just check how it works.
B550 motherboards have mature enough BIOS to work with all popular DDR4-3200 kits. Manufacturers can't test all available memory kits, and there are barely a few memory ICs in use, so there is a high chance that the same stuff can be under a different product number on the QVL.

Thanks, that gives me confidence to try it. I have no way to test the memory, but I see no reason it would be bad, since it was all working before my screw up.
