Computer Modding Part List

I've not found a single complete/good list, and I'm getting tired of constantly looking up parts multiple times to order. So, I'd like to make a complete list of parts used for modifying computers. If you have one you'd like to add, post it below and I can try to find it. I'll post detailed information in case the link or part number changes. This can be for anything - tools, wire, connectors, pins.

I'll add the ones that I just looked up and add more as I have time. You can help out by sending me links from Mouser/Digi-key/others to ones you want to see listed and I will get them added here. If I have a part listed only for Mouser, but you find it in Digi-key, post the link here so I can add more info! The more the better!

I'm having trouble locating the 6/8 pin connectors for graphics cards. They are keyed different than the ones listed above, which makes them not compatible. If you know how to find these, I'd really appreciate knowing how you found them.

I just added a bunch to the list. I'm not happy with the Molex part numbers, as they seem far too expensive. I remember seeing them for >$0.10/e. I couldn't find the Molex equivalent. If someone could take a look, that would be great. I've spent about 2 hours on this so far.

I'm also missing entries for PCIe ATX connectors. The closest I could get was this.

EDIT: I might hit up Mouser support to help me out with this. I've heard they are really good.

6 Pin Connectors here

you can update that now. however i have a question. the 6 pin connectors for GPUs have a more oval pin compared to the ATX pins for the 8 pin/ 24 pin. are they different? :shrug:

Yes, they are keyed differently. You can't plug a CPU 8 pin (which follows the same key pattern as a 24 pin connector) into an 8 pin PCIe power connector. Same with the 6 pin.

The pins themselves are the same for all ATX connectors. The connectors are keyed differently.

that's what i understood. however, looking at my cables that came with my power supply the PCI-E power pins are different then standard ATX pins. they are more oval than square.

notice the oval shape. they are quite round compared to the rest of the standar ATX connectors. i don't know why..? :shrug:

Is that the part that plugs into the power supply, or the components? If the latter, square pins will work fine. If the former, can you get pictures of the pins on the unit?

Yes. The male pins on the devices are made for square pins.
