I know I saw this somewhere on here but I cant remember where, will conformal coating screw with any heattransfer properties on the front side of a mobo? I assume so but I wana check before I start spraying away!

Any coating on the motherboard and components populating it will add a small degree of insulation to it and impact heat transfer. The good news is that the effect is almost negligible unless you really pile it on. Spray confromal coat puts down a nice thin layer. Some of the thicker, brushable conformal coats leave a thicker layer. Use just enough to seal the surfaces.

So its ok to go over the heat sinks? Just tape up the PCI, memory, and IDE slots?

You might also want to cover the CPU socket, battery and jumpers if you have any that you want to use.

I wouldn't spray the northbridge heatsink either.
