My PC is connected to my LCD HDTV. The ATI Radeon 3450 card I use has D-SUB/VGA, DVI-I and "HDTV" sockets. It also has a DVI-I-to-VGA adaptor and another adaptor which fits the HDTV socket (looks like and S-video socket) and splits the signal into 3 different coloured leads (RGB I think).

At the moment I have the TV connected via the DVI-I-to-VGA adaptor via a longish VGA cable. This works fine and allows me to use the mouse etc on the TV. Divx films etc look pretty good to me.

I'm a bit confused by the options and am wondering:

Will this hook-up allow me to play HD video on the TV?
If not how is this possible?
Can any of the card outputs connect to an HDMI cable (digitally)?
Does HD have to be transmitted digitally?
When I mess around with resolutions (lower or higher them) this shows in the cloned Windows desktop but movies look the same - why is this?

Thanks

When you say HDTV socket, my guess is that you mean a component output, this is HD and can output 720p I believe.

Your best bet is to get a DVI to HDMI cable (search the net, they are around). It will not carry audio like that however, so you'll need to set-up your audio seperately.
