Hello Everyone,

I am in need of assistance in making a console cable for my
Cisco 2926 switch. It is equiped with a DB-25 female console
port. I do not have a console cable available for a DB-25 and
I wish to make my own if possible before going out and
purchasing one.

What I have available is a DB-25 to RJ-45, and a DB-9 to
RJ-45 adapter. I have the equipment to make ethernet cables.

The DB-25 adapter is already prewired but the DB-9 adapter
is not. I would appreciate it if someone can tell me what wires
go into what pins on the DB-9 connector. One end of each
wire is connected to the RJ-45 the other needs to be connected
to the DB-9. The wire colors I have are: Red, Orange, Green,
Black, White, Yellow, Blue, and Brown. Also, should I use a
straight, crossover, or rollover ethernet cable?

Thanks in Advance,

YMAN

Make a Rollover cable to connect it.

One end is going to be the 568B standard
The other end is going to be the 568B standard, but upsidedown.

Use your DB9 to RJ45 and plug it in your com port

Use Terra Term or HyperTerminal or whatever you use to connect, you're set!

You don;t need a cable, you just need a DB9 to a RJ45 adapter. I just bought one for a Multiplexer Console port and this Adapter allows you to use your own straight cable.

Some devices use a straight-thru cable, some need a rollover cable. It all depends on the cisco device.
