Today I got bored so I decided to strip and rebuild my computer. I took everything out cleaned all the dust off of it (That free gas mask came in handy). I also regreased my fans. I also placed cut up rubber bands at the corner of each fan as cheap fan gaskets. I also took the time to tidy up my cabling tie and tape em down. I can barely hear my system now and it's cugging along at 45 degrees with an SK6. Using those makeshift gaskets made my SK6 rival the quietness of the Aeroflow.

So for ppl who haven't cleaned/overhauled their comps in a while, do it you'll be surprised at the difference it makes.

I just built a system for my sister over Thanksgiving break. It was a nice one for what she did (internet, email, IM, and The Sims): a 1700+, 256MB PC133, 30GB 7200. When I built it, I completely blasted the case with compressed air to get all the dust out... now I can look through the case window and see the gunk caked on to the heatsink.

It's just sad.
