well, about 2 months ago i decided i want a new system, so i figured i should put one together... this would be my first time. Anyway, when i started researching the various parts, i thought i should go with PC2400... i figured i probably won't overclock.. but then i didn't want to go with pc2100 either. Then the KT333 came out... and guess who wanted the latest and the greatest? So i decided that i do want to overclok my future system... Still waiting for that T-bred to come out.. and still waiting for epox or asus or someone to say they'll support the t-breds. Cooling is near the top of my list also.. so i figured i'd check out the heatsink ratings page.. and decided to go with the Thermalright AX-7, although i'm sure that delta will be the noisiest thing on earth. Anyhow.. i'm babbling. My point is... Corsair just came out with CMX256A-3000C2 ... and now i'm tempted to go for the latest and the greatest... :( and i'm wondering if i'll have any money left when this is all over :) (lowest price listed on pricewatch was $151 for 256M) OK.. so here comes the question:

From an overclocking perspective.. would it make sense to try pc3000 with these kt333 boards? would the whole thing hold together? sounds to me like we would be pushing things to the max. So is this pc3000 worth it (assuming i can find the money for it)? or is it pretty much a waste?

thanks

P.S. Any mobo suggestions?

A good kt266a boards with good memory can do a lot, but kt333 got agp 8x which you might need in the future, you have the choice. I wouldn't get those pc3000 memory, with kingston pc2700 you can reach speeds up to 196 fsb stable. But if you want something that the stickers says the number 3000 then the choice is yours.
