I know that Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB DDR3-1600 is not a new memory kit but I've never tested one before on the OCF. Since I was installing one of these kits at work and I could test it then I thought I will add some results.







There is only one XMP profile as in most DDR3-1600 kits what is of course enough.
Results at XMP settings are below. There is also AIDA64 table with timings.





XMP is in 1.2 version so I assume it wasn't manufactured lately. However there is no info about manufacture date. Number on the sticker - 5.13 suggests there can be Hynix memory. Two 4GB modules are double sided so it's also a sign that tested memory isn't from any newer series as all manufacturers moved to higher density chips some time ago.

Overclocking results

1600 7-8-8-24 1N 1.65V






1866 9-9-9-24 1N 1.65V






2000 9-10-10-24 1N 1.65V





Performance is pretty good for an 1600 memory even before overclocking.

Here's some naughty pics of my CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8 1.5V! These can also run at 7-7-7-21-1T @1333! Whether that's cool or not, I don't know!

I haven't seen much on DFR hynix. Most people skip from cfr to mfr. Is that because there are not many chips with revisions DFR through LFR, or is it just because there is no notable performance from those revisions? or both?

I think it's because we mainly see high end memory in reviews and overclockers pick higher series. Most these higher kits are on CFR or MFR. Older were also on BFR but most other IC are in cheaper kits.
I'm usually checking what IC is in every kit that I'm testing but sometimes when it's not mine and tape is really sticky or simply there is not much time then I'm not trying to take heatsink off.

Almost all available memory chips are designed for 1333 9-9-9 or 1600 11-11-11 ( there are also higher specs but almost no one is selling them and most are not in mass production ). Later memory manufacturers are checking them and after binning we have these magical high end kits so there is still a chance to get good overclocking memory in cheap series.
