I am trying to decide is it better to keep 64gb of ram at 3600mhz or 128gb at 3200 or 3400 mhz. I do tend to run some Virtual Machines. I am not a huge gamer as my video card is an RX580 doing 1080p. Not sure where my money would be better spent. That being said. I am trying to figure out how to get this ram I bought stable. I have a 128gb of ram (4x32 dims). The voltage is at 1.37(upped the voltage to try to get it stable) Trying to decide if I should just return it and keep 64gb. I bought this because it was on sale and a cheap upgrade. Right now, I am using XMP settings. I wasn’t able to go past 64gb until I perform a bios upgrade. Also considered lowering the MHZ speed to 3400mhz or 3200mhz. I am getting random bluescreens about once a week. Any ideas on how high I can go on voltage?

I know this is probably overkill and if I want more performance, I should probably upgrade my processor. For the MSI motherboard I could not find settings for the VCCIO and VCCSA. I believe it may be called different in the MSI bios.

  • RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 3600MHz, with clocks set to 18-22-22-42-75 and voltage increased to 1.37V in an attempt to achieve stability
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5600
  • Motherboard: MSI B550-A PRO
Thanks in advance! - Coop

The short answer about capacity is that it's up to you. Are you able to use more than 64gb? If not, then getting more is more of a hinderence to reaching higher speeds and is wasting money.
