Could I use this stuff?

People talk about insulating motherboards and whatnot. Some sort of waterproofing spray (Conformal coating?). Has anyone ever used shoe waterproofer? I have sprayed this stuff on some paper and made it waterproof. You can buy it at any FootLocker or Athlete's Foot. Probably at Walmart too, in the shoe section.

Could I use this to insulate my motherboard?

That stuff is typically just silicone based oil. It has many uses, but I think conformal coating may not be one of its fortes. You'd be better off with krylon clear coat or any of a number of clear spray laquers.
