Counter-Strike troubles :/

I install it fine, it does the training fine, but when I goto play online it says that it's out of date "which it was" it was the version off the cd, so I told it to update, it asked my if i was sure that i wanted to update I said ok, then it closed off everything then that was it, it stopped. ????

So I'm downloading cs1005.exe from the www.counter-stikre.net web site, I'll install that and see how things go . I wouldnt have gone out and go an old CD of this game, but 1.6 quit on me and I was craving some kills.

[esit]when I installed inly added half-life death match to the list, "cs was defaulty added"..[edit]

Ok, the file download, I goto install it tells me to install in the same DIR as the current Counter-Strike install so I do that, then it tells my that there is no cs in the dir.

Try installing it just to the Sierra directory, I had similar problem myself. Might help.

Well, I think you have to make sure your version of Half-Life is updated as well.

he's got the retail CD, HL independant as far as I know

just needs the retail CS update.

yes you have to have halflife updated before you can update counterstrike, my advice is to install halflife and update it to the 1.1.1.0 and then install cs 1.5

do you have the mod version or cs retail? you never specifically stated which.

i've got the retail cs 1.5 downlaoded the oen that you install onto hl.

the one you install onto half life is the mod version, if you have a counter-strike cd you want the retail upgrade which is the 1.0.0.5 that you have, if your running the mod for half-life you need to install the half-life update and then the mod cs update, which is cs 1.5

retail cs doesnt need half life at all
