I use an Opteron 165 (3.0ghz @ 1.6v) which is watercooled at nice load temps of around the 40s. The other day my psu became unstable and died, prior to its eventual death in the few minutes it was wounded, it kept everything powered except for my water pump. After several reboots i isolate the psu, in the mean time my cpu has been running un-cooled. When i got it into windows CoreTemp said my cpu was running at 95 degrees, so i immediately turned it off (it must have been running this hot for minutes). Upon replacing the psu, i cannot get the cpu to bench stabley through prime or superPi at the stock settings. 3dMark works fine tho. I increased the voltage without any gains in stability. When i tried my old 1.6v (this time at stock CPu frequency again) which ive ran for more than a year and a half, it abruptly shut down in windows. I seriously doubt its the new psu, if so that would have crashed during 3dMark when my Oc'd 8800GT was loading away.
