CPU factory unlocked

Hello,
I have been doing a little research on my A7V266E and have found that there are some errors with the manual and the actual setting of the board.
1. CPU Type Freq Setting - manual says default on athlon/duron
but it is set on the Palamino. I have changed it.
2. I/O Voltage Setting - did not match default. I had to change
to run stable with all the ram.
3. Clear RTC RAM - I guess the proceedure was printed backward.

My question has to do with the CPU: System Frequency Multiple.
The manual says that this field can only be accessed if your CPU is unlocked. I have not touched my chip, other than installing it, but I am able to change the settings here in manual mode. I was wondering if the manual is correct in stating that only unlocked CPU's can access this setting.
I did not pay attention to the chip when I installed it because I really had no idea about OC at the time. I have since learned more than what is good for me, lol.
If anyone knows how I could verify if my CPU is truly unlocked I would appreciate it. Otherwise off with the HS.

It's not unheard of for processors to come unlocked from the factory. My 1.2 TBird was unlocked when I got it. Makes it that much easier to overclock

Thank you for the reply. I'm sure the factory lets out quite a few unlocked CPU's, but my question is how to verify if indeed my CPU is already unlocked without having to remove the HS and do a visual on the chip.

Easy as pie

Alter the mult in bios to whatever it is you want, crank'er up and run WCPUID which you can download here. The file name is wcpu30f.exe
